The ASU College Avenue Commons is a five story, 135,000 sq foot facility that primarily supports the education of students pursuing an education in construction, provides retail space, and includes dedicated space to introduce future students to ASU. The site includes multiple video walls, a 200 seat auditorium, classrooms, labs, huddle rooms, conference rooms, faculty offices, and common areas.
The A/V technology implemented into the building was a consultant led design and contracted with ASU through Okland Construction. Key elements in the design include over 150 flat screens and projectors, automatic and manual tracking camera and microphone components to support distance learning, digital signage/way finding, flexibility to view any source in the facility on any display in the facility, and building sustainability monitoring. Although highly complex, the A/V control system was designed for intuitive ease of use via the in room touch panels while also providing the ASU AV support team building wide remote control and monitoring of all devices via portable touch panels and an interactive browser application.
